Brittany Davis is a 21-year-old artist that was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago but, decided to move to New York City in 2014 to continue to pursue her dreams of becoming an artist and entrepreneur.
Davis’s unique and colorful artwork has managed to garner her over twenty thousand followers on Instagram. But that’s nowhere near her personal account as she has over fifty thousand followers that support and appreciate her artwork.
It’s no surprise that the Trinidad native has managed to create such a solid following as she shares more than her artistry, but also some of her greatest memories as well as, her trendy and edgy style. Davis explained that she has always had an interest in fashion, which is why she decided to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she is currently majoring in Fine Arts. The 21-year-old says she believes that fashion and art go hand in hand. “I look at Fashion as art with the array of designs, quality, etc. which is artistic in its own way and in my artwork,” she disclosed.
The creator might have a passion for fashion, but her focus has always been on art. She began drawing when she was 3-years-old but did not begin painting until 2016. Davis stated that her paintings bring her comfort and joy and are a reflection of who she is.
Although she paints different figures, her followers know that she really admires Bob Marley as she has multiple paintings of the singer. The entrepreneur stated that she really looks up to Bob Marley and considers him to be one of her role models. “He makes me want to inspire many and live an extraordinary life,” Davis said.
The songwriter might have helped Davis express her artistry, but she also gets inspiration from her own personal experiences. Along with Marley, she explained that she has high regard for artists such as Frida Kahlo, Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte, Gustav Klimt, and Petah Coyne. Davis said that she admires these artists because her style and techniques are similar to theirs.
The girl boss may be on the brink of turning her artwork into a business, but she has huge plans for her work. Her next step is to get her art on different products. She would like to hand paint her designs on clothes and shoes so that they can be her own original pieces.
